James Lee, Ph.D., UC Irvine Associate Professor of Asian American Studies and English, chair of the Department of Asian American Studies at UCI, and director of the Ph.D. program in Culture and Theory. Dr. Lee provides critical analysis of the intersections of race and religion to the project, with particular attention to the Asian-American experience. He brings his expertise in Asian-American culture and immigration to our interpretation to these festivals and is in charge of communication with journalist and community activist consultants on the ground. He is a co-PI for the festivals project and director of the Manzanar Humanities Lab.
