Santos Z. Roman is a doctoral student in Public History at the University of California, Riverside. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of the Western Cape (South Africa) and holds a master’s degree from Harvard Divinity School. His research treats history, trauma, and memory in South Africa. He co-curated Flaws in the Diamond, an exhibit of South African photographs from the Anglo-Boer War, at the California Museum of Photography. He participates in the Mazanar Humanities Lab, reflecting on memory projects and histories of internment.
